Dr. Surya Raj Acharya has a BSc Eng (Civil) from NIT Jamshedpur, BA (Economics) from TU, MEng (Resource Management) from AIT, Bangkok, and PhD from the University of Tokyo.

Dr. Acharya is an expert on infrastructure policy, planning and management, and currently a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Pulchowk Campus. In the past he worked for Government of Nepal, United Nations- ESCAP Bangkok and Institute for Transport Policy Studies (ITPS), Tokyo.  He also taught graduate level courses at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) Tokyo as an Adjunct Professor and at the University of Tokyo as a Visiting Faculty.
