Special Lecture on Fiscal Federalism

Policy Research Institute organised a special lecture on “Fiscal Federalism in Nepal: Status of Implementation, Challenges and Opportunities.” The lecture – the sixth in the series of special lectures – was presented by Mr Balananda Poudel, the Chairperson of the National Natural Resource and Fiscal Commission.

In the lecture, honourable Poudel discussed the federal structure provided by the Constitution and the sources of revenues and their distribution as envisioned by it (Constitution). He also touched upon other pertinent issues, including challenges being faced to realise fiscal federalism and the ways to mitigate them.

Present at the event, chaired and moderated by PRI’s Executive Chairperson Dr Bishnu Raj Upreti, were PRI researchers, a few external guests interested in the topic and Dr Juddha Gurung, a Member of the National Natural Resource and Fiscal Commission.
