PRI and NRB Agree to Promote Collaborative Engagement

Following telephone conversations between the Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and the Executive Chairperson of Policy Research Institute (PRI) on possible collaboration between NRB and PRI, representatives of both the organisations held an interaction, on 26 July 2021, to further explore practical ways to promote collaborative initiatives.

During the interaction, the participants underscored the need for collaboration for quality outcomes and, following a brief presentation on each of their plans and priorities, concluded to collaborate in: research on macro-economic issues; mutual capacity building through training and thematic workshops, peer review of publications and information/data sharing. The collaboration, which will basically be non-financial, will be firmed up through a Memorandum of Understanding in the days to come.

Present in the interaction from the Economic Research Department of NRB were Dr. Prakash Shrestha, Executive Director, Dr. Dilli Ram Pokhrel, Director and Dr. Ram Sharan Kharel, Director. From PRI were Dr. Bishnu Raj Upreti, Chairperson, Dr. Deepak Kumar Khadka, Head of Research Department, Dr. Hari Sharma Neupane, Senior Research Fellow (Political and Social Affairs), Dr. Kalpana Khanal, Senior Research Fellow (Economic Affairs, Development and Infrastructure), Mr. Laxman Bhattarai, Office Manager, and Dr. Mukunda Raj Kattel, Head of Information and Knowledge Management Department.
