Interaction with the Senior Thematic Experts of the Policy Research Institute concluded

A one-day interaction programme was conducted with the Senior Thematic Experts of the Policy Research Institute. The Senior Thematic Experts are advisors to the area-specific research centres at the Policy Research Institute who advise and guide the Centre on research matters. The event was organized to inform the progress made during FY 2080/81 and seek suggestions for the research for FY 2082/82.

The Executive Chairman of the Institute, Prof Dr Lekhnath Sharma, warmly welcomed the experts and conducted the interaction program. The Head of the Research Department, Dr Hari Sharma Neupane, presented briefly about the institute’s progress and planning. The experts congratulated the Executive Chairman for his appointment and also expressed their admiration for the significant achievements of the Institute so far. They also made valuable suggestions on the policy research topics to be undertaken by the Institute in the current and next year. Among the major research topics suggested were the study on the effectiveness of organization and management (O&M) surveys in government bodies, the review of the National Climate Change Policy, the need for an umbrella policy on agriculture, etc.

Experts also commented on the Institute’s five-year strategic plan and the impact of the Institute’s work on the policies. They also emphasized that the government should table and pass the Policy Research Institute Bill. Suggestions were also received about the role of the Institute in controlling duplication in policy research.

The Heads of the Institute’s research centres also reaffirmed their commitment to further and detailed discussions with the experts regarding planning research projects for the current year. At the end of the event, the Executive Chairman thanked everyone. He expressed confidence that the role of the institute’s Senior Thematic Expert experts will be further strengthened, emphasizing the importance of their continued involvement in the institute’s decision-making process.
