An Interaction Concludes on Hydropower Development Policy 2058

On 15 May 2023, Policy Research Institute organized an interaction on the Hydropower Development Policy, 2058. The aim of the interaction was to collect feedback and suggestions on the policy from all stakeholders concerned. In the event moderated by Dr Kalpana Khanal, PRI’s Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Policy Centre for Economic and Infrastructure Development, hydropower experts Mr. Dipak Gyawali and Mr. Dambar Bahadur Nepali presented an expert-review of the policy and prepared the ground for interaction. Among speakers and commentators on the policy were former secretary of the Government of Nepal Mr. Dwarika Nath Dhungel,  hydropower expert Mr. Ratna Sansar Shrestha, geologist and Professor at Tribhuvan University Dr. Tara Nidhi Bhattarai, Professor at Kathmandu University Dr. Ramesh Kumar Maskey, senior technical officer from NAST Mr. Roshan Pandey, government officials from Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Ministry of Forests and Environment, Alternative Energy Promotion Center, Electricity Regulatory Commission, Secretariat of Water and Energy Commission, Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited  (HIDCL), National Electricity Authority (NEA), authorities from Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) and private hydropower companies.
