An agreement signed for the establishment of the Late Lakshminath Gautam Policy Research Fund

The Policy Research Institute (PRI) signed an agreement with Dr Prasanna Chandra Gautam for the establishment of “The Late Lakshminath Gautam Policy Research Fund” in loving memory of his father, Mr. Lakshminath Gautam, the second governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank.

Dr Prassana Chandra Gautam will securely maintain an endowment in a fixed deposit account at a bank, and the annual interest generated, a minimum of Rs. 6,00,000 (Rupees six lakh), will be transferred to PRI. This fund will be directed toward rewarding organizations and individuals who exhibit outstanding achievements in policy research every year.

An official agreement to formalize this generous act was signed at the office of the Policy Research Institute. The agreement was signed by Mr Laxman Bhattarai, the Office Manager of PRI, and Dr Prasanna Chandra Gautam, with the witness signatories, Dr Deepak Kumar Khadka, Senior Fellow at PRI, and Dr Sucheta Pyakurel, an academic and a close relative of Gautam family.

On the occasion, Dr Prasanna Chandra Gautam spoke of the late Lakshminath Gautam’s professional life, his contribution to the banking and policy sectors, and how the fund established today will honor the spirit of those contributions. The Executive Chairperson of the PRI, Prof Dr Lekh Nath Sharma, thanked Dr Gautam and his family for the generous philanthropic gesture to honor Lakshminath Gautam’s legacy. He also elaborated on how the fund will help advance excellence in policy research and foster innovation in this critical field.
