A public policy dialogue on the measures to promote integrity in public service in Nepal was held

A public policy dialogue on the state of integrity in Nepal’s civil service in connection with a study being conducted by the Policy Research Foundation was organized with the participation of experts and staff of various ministries and organizations. The purpose of this dialogue was to gain feedback on the concept of the study, as well as to gather information and opinions about the current state, factors, and measures to promote integrity in the civil service of Nepal.

In the programme, the Office Manager of the institute Mr. Laxman Bhattarai welcomed the participants to the event and Mr. Gopinath Mainali, an expert, made a presentation covering various aspects of integrity and ethics in public service. Mr. Mainali’s presentation included the doctrinal aspects of virtue in public service, the prerequisite infrastructure of integrity, the legal system, the psychosocial aspects, the current state of integrity, issues, measures to promote integrity, and inspiring examples of great civil servants and activism.

The dignitaries who participated in the dialogue shared views on topics including the experiences they had, the perceptions of the public, the problems of maintaining integrity, and the topics and methods that the study should cover. The dialogue was moderated by a Senior Research Fellow at the institute, Dr. Mukti Ram Rijal. Information from this dialogue and other planned in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and civil employee surveys will be integrated into the study as primary data.
